Greetings from Barcelona!
With the 33rd World Convention only months away, we are all very excited and looking forward to being together again in Barcelona, Spain to celebrate “Love Without Borders.”
We currently have over 2500 people pre-registered for the convention! It’s hard to say how many people have made hotel reservations because we understand that a lot of people have found discounted hotel rates. We attempted to lower our rates because of the economy around the world, but as we said before, many of these rates were negotiated in much better times. NA World Services has gone to great lengths to simply insure that, while our members are searching the internet for discounted rates (as you should), NAWS will not get penalized for failing to meet our commitments with the hotels. We are in a good position with the hotels and our rooms sales; given the economy, the hotels are very happy with NA and our performance so far.
Deadlines! Deadlines! Deadlines!
Pre-Registration Merchandise—NEW DEADLINE!
The pre-registration merchandise deadline was set for 1 May! However, because of how we will be producing some of our merchandise we do not need as much lead time as we thought and can give you more time to buy any pre-registration merchandise you want. This is going to be completely unique merchandise and will not be for sale onsite. You can still get commemorative mugs, men’s or women’s t-shirts, and camp shirts by going to http://www.na.org/wcna until 15 June! Don’t miss out on this cool and unique merchandise.
Pre-Registration & Events Tickets
We are ready to announce that for WCNA 33 there will not be any additional need to buy tickets. Your registration will include all the events and activities at WCNA 33! The deadline for pre-registration is still 1 -July, but you do not need to worry about spending more money on additional tickets and can hopefully use that money to buy merchandise, eat more tapas in Barcelona, and have an even better vacation. Much like the world conventions in Paris, France and Cartagena, Colombia, all the activities will be included and everyone will be able to celebrate “Love Without Borders” together every day and night on the Mediterranean Sea.
Changes to Pre-Registration Procedures!
Because of the registration software we are using this year, everyone who is pre-registered needs to bring a copy of their registration confirmation email. In previous years, as you may know, if you were registered as a guest of someone else, your badge was included in their packet. This year, each registrant must pick up his or her own registration; registrations are not held under other members’ names.
Hotel
There is still a wide selection of WCNA hotels, and many of the hotels have cut their prices. Go to our website at http://www.na.org/wcna to check the latest prices and availability on hotels in Barcelona.
Hotel Deposits & Cancellations
Just a reminder, cancellations on or before 30 June 2009 will be assessed a €50 cancellation fee. Cancellations made on or after 1 July 2009 will forfeit entire deposit.
Post-Convention Cruise
With the number of people going on the cruise already, the ship has given NA space for meetings during the trip and we are working with Montrose Travel on creating special events just for NA members during the cruise. Don’t miss an opportunity to see Malta—Naples and Pompeii—Rome—Florence—Cannes during this 7-day cruise around one of the most beautiful parts of the world! Take this opportunity to extend your stay in Barcelona and visit some of the most spectacular ports in the Mediterranean.
